In February the Politics department took a group of students to the heart of London to attend a Sixth Form Question Time event at Westminster Abbey and also to visit the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom. Both proved great opportunities to see politics and law in action. Students were able to pose questions to a panel of politicians, activists and faith leaders at the Question Time event, bringing their concerns and interests to the forefront of discussions and listen to their responses. They were also able to sit in on a live case hearing at the Supreme Court, seeing first-hand how the top court in the UK hears appeals on points of law that have significance importance to the public.

Sana, a year 12 Politics student, said of the trip:

“The politics trip was a great experience that brought politics into life, especially being able to hear politicians proclaiming their passion and goals for the future. As politics students it is hard to be able to imagine the reality of politics and so this was a helpful experience to develop our desire to study politics further. We were able to see a live court case which was such an exciting experience that intrigued many of us and frankly it brought our class closer together so that we are able to work alongside each other as a team, just like politicians.”
