A Level Results Day 2022 – A message from Ms Wood

‘Exceptionally pleased’ with A Level and BTEC success

I am exceptionally pleased with the results of our hard working Year 13 students. After a difficult two years, they have shown such resilience and determination and have overcome the multitude of unprecedented barriers that Covid-19 presented, to achieve some of the highest grades we have seen in over four years.

It has been an absolute pleasure working with this wonderful year group and today has been a day of celebration. We are thrilled that so many of our students have been placed at their first choice university and degree apprenticeships. Those students who are now exploring their options through clearing have done so with a fantastically mature and measured approach and I can’t wait to hear which universities snap our students up over the coming days!

Each student who joined us in September 2020 had a different starting point as their GCSE year was cut short in March, and each student’s experience of the pandemic was different. On their first day that September I spoke to students on the topic of us all having journeyed over the same sea, but having different ships in which to do so.  Because of this, each student’s individual success is to be celebrated.

All of our students have made us so proud as they have taught me about overcoming adversity and having a bigger perspective in life. While being filmed for ITV’s six o’clock news the day before results day, one student was asked how they were feeling about receiving their results the next day. They replied by saying that they didn’t feel their results would define their happiness or success, because you can become successful at age 40 or 50, and wherever he ended up next year, he knew he would be able to achieve happiness and success.

Every year in this job I feel it is a pleasure and a privilege to work with young people. This year, listening to that student, I have never felt that so strongly.

Below is just a snapshot of some of our exam success. We are proud of all of our students and know they move on to the next step of their education or employment ready to live out our values of faith, hope, family and respect.
