On the 6th of May, here at Bluecoat Sixth Form we celebrated our third Cultural Day. A Year 12 assembly took place where Mr. O’Kane presented a PowerPoint informing the students of the breadth of our cultural diversity here at the Sixth Form as well as presenting facts and customs about the countries that are represented in the Sixth Form. A wide range of countries were spoken about such as: Jamaica, Pakistan, Ghana, Northern Ireland etc. throughout the assembly. Additionally, cultural music was played in the Common Room to engage students that belong to different cultural backgrounds. Students responded to this event by wearing cultural attire and speaking briefly about the significance of their apparel during the assembly. This day helped Bluecoat embrace each other’s different backgrounds in multiple ways and was a great way for us to live out our values of family and respect.
