And we’re in!

 

After much anticipation, we finally moved in to our new home on Maid Marian Way! In a show of heroic effort, our operations team organised for lorry loads of crates to be shipped across from Aspley so that pastoral, site, admin and teaching staff had the opportunity to pull together to get us unpacked ahead of the Christmas break!

While staff unpacked their worldly belongings, our students attended their first tours of the building. Escorting students up and down the four floor teaching tower means we won’t be needing to sign up for January gym memberships in the new year! But students’ reactions to our spacious study room, the brand new Lecture Theatre, the views of the city and the design choices of the student council for the common room made it all worthwhile and we cannot wait to bed into the new space properly in the new year.

Student voice is key to what we do at Bluecoat Sixth Form, and Ms Ancelin has already had the paint brush out in the wellbeing room in response to suggestions from our students! We will continue to work with the student council to respond to our students’ needs as we enjoy our first few weeks of settling in in January.

‘Family’ is one of our core values at Bluecoat Sixth Form, and a number of our prefects really lived out this value as they got alongside staff to support us this week. I feel very lucky to work with such dedicated staff and students and I am excited for what the new year will bring.

In the meantime – we’re all off for a well earned rest!
