Vision
We provide an inclusive programme of support for all of our students. We encourage our students to believe in themselves, be ambitious in their aspirations and strive to achieve their full potential.
HE+ Programme
This programme for eligible students is ran by Cambridge University in conjunction with a consortium of other Sixth Form providers in the city. It offers a bespoke programme of support in applying for competitive, research intensive universities such as Oxford and Cambridge.
“The HE+ program was very helpful into learning about university and the application process, in addition it was an opportunity to share my passion for the subject I wish to pursue a degree in through the research group project. Overall it was an amazing experience and I had lots of fun. The highlight of the program for me was the visit to Peterhouse in Cambridge where I was able to see the city Cambridge and ask existing students about their experience at university.” Veena (current year 13 student)
UCAS Higher Education Exhibition
All year 12 students attend a regional Higher Education Exhibition in the summer term to give them the opportunity to speak to Higher Education Providers and research their options once they complete their Post-16 studies.
Summer Schools (Sutton Trust Programmes and UNIQ Summer School)
University Summer Schools and Taster Days are promoted through our tutor programme and weekly opportunities bulletin and students are encouraged to apply to these worthwhile programmes.
Social Mobility Foundation
We have links to the Social Mobility Foundation that provide excellent opportunities for mentor and support programmes in a range of career choices for eligible students.
University Masterclasses and Taster days
We have strong links with a range of universities both locally and more regionally and collaborate with these to promote a range of university taster days and support programmes to give students an insight into a range of courses at Higher Education level.
Realising Opportunities
This programme is ran by our hub provider Loughborough University and offers candidates a support and mentoring programme culminating in contextual offers from participating Realising Opportunity universities.
“Realising opportunities (RO) was a scheme that equipped me to know more about university. I was able to experience university lecturers and speak to university students, which broadened my knowledge about university. RO also helped me to enhance my skills needed for university by providing a range of courses e.g. how to reference. I found RO extremely useful as it allowed me to network with different universities and provided me with a platform to learn more about university. Due to my engagement with RO, I now have the opportunity to receive reduced offers from over 20 Russell universities- which increases my chances of getting into a top university. I truly believe that RO has been very impactful on my academic journey to higher education and I’d encourage people to join.” Rachel (current year 13)
Oxbridge and Medicine Preparation
A bespoke programme of support is provided for students wishing to apply for Oxbridge or Medicine, Veterinary programmes, including weekly societies, annual Oxbridge and Medicine Evenings, links with local medic networks and alumni, interview preparation and university link collaboration.
