Visit from Sir Stephen Wall

As part of the Bluecoat Sixth Form’s careers & super-curricular programme, years 12 & 13 were treated to a talk from former foreign office diplomat Sir Stephen Wall, who shared his extensive career with students. Over the course of nearly 50 years, he has worked in foreign affairs and is a former British permanent representative to the European Union.

Students were particularly amazed to hear his stories of working with British prime ministers and going on holiday with President George Bush! He spoke courageously about the many challenges he has faced throughout his life and students took inspiration from his life stories.

There was the chance after his talk for students to ask him questions, to find out more and to get an insight into what is involved in the kind of work he has done. He was also able to share helpful advice for the future.

It was a fantastic insight for students and his talk has had a positive impact on many.
