Friday 5th November marked Bluecoat Sixth Form Cultural Day, a fantastic day in which students & staff celebrated their cultures & identities with others in school.
The idea for cultural day came from students, wanting an opportunity to showcase the diversity within the sixth form. Students were invited to come wearing clothes representing their cultures, the results being a huge array of fabulous outfits from cultures across the globe showing just how diverse our sixth form is. Students enjoyed the opportunity to ‘embrace their cultures’ with friends & ‘express & receive respect’ for their own and other’s cultures.
It was also a chance to find out about other people’s backgrounds & celebrate all that makes us different but unified. One student said the day made the sixth form feel ‘united’.
The day was a resounding success with students & staff, helping us to appreciate the people within our sixth form community.
