Welcome back!
We are looking forward to welcoming you all back to the library. I’m happy to report we have some wonderful new books being shown to advantage on our new display stand. Come and see us to take one home with you today!
Revision time…
Here in the library we know that everyone is working hard towards their exams. We will be supporting your revision with a rotating display of subject study guides and other relevant reading to help you along your way: here is a sneak peek! Good luck 🍀
Work experience visitors
It was a joy to welcome four of our Y12 Steps for Success students to the library this week for their work experience placements. Here are the incredibly creative displays and posters they made: why not take a closer look at the books they have showcased?
You can read more about Bluecoat’s Steps for Success programme here.
Pride Month
At Bluecoat, we seek to celebrate diversity in all its forms, so we are delighted to be celebrating Pride Month in the library with decorations and two dedicated reading lists.
Miss Thompson has now learned what all the flags represent, so feel free to come and test her! Can’t see your flag in the photo? We will have it, it’s just on the other side of the desk 😊
Windrush Day
22nd June marks the day that passengers from the West Indies disembarked the ship Empire Windrush and started to build lives in Britain. We had a special display in the library to celebrate everyone who arrived then and has arrived since, and I was delighted that it sparked some really interesting conversations with staff and students about race and history.
Missing from this picture are Homecoming: Voices of the Windrush Generation, Why I’m No Longer Talking to White People about Race and What White People Can Do Next, which are all on loan.
